Trump held the belief that the courts constituted a reliable safeguard against allegations of election denial. Now? Not at all

Trump urged the conservative-dominated court to stay a ruling by the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals that restored access to the classified documents to the Justice Department. When it is to his advantage, former President Donald Trump never hesitates to adopt contradictory positions.

Concerning the appointment of Supreme Court justices who overturned the right to abortion, he boasts. However, he refuses to specify what the federal or state governments should do at this time regarding this issue while re-running for president.

He laments the precarious state of the southern frontier of the United States. This week, however, he utilized his political influence over certain Republicans in Congress to halt bipartisan immigration reform and border security legislation.

Is Trump preoccupied with anything beyond his personal survival and achievement? The record of evidence indicates no. However, his tendency to see things from both perspectives ultimately cost him in court.

On Tuesday, he was called out by a three-judge panel of the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals for presenting an argument during his impeachment trial in the U.S. Senate in 2021 that was diametrically opposed to the argument he is now making in his criminal case regarding his attempt to overthrow the 2020 presidential election following his loss to Joe Biden.

Moreover, I have my doubts that the United States Supreme Court will overlook this contradiction, which could cause Trump trouble as early as Monday. I will return to that later.

Does Trump favor the judicial system or impeachment?

Motive: In the 2021 impeachment proceedings, Trump was effectively defended by his legal representatives, who maintained that the Senate lacked the authority to penalize him for his efforts to annul the 2020 election. At the time, they asserted that criminal tribunals were specifically designed for that purpose.

A novel group of Trump attorneys presently contend in the courts that Senate impeachment was, in fact, the proper forum to hold him accountable for his efforts to annul the election, and that the former president is now entitled to immunity for his actions while in office.
