US President Joe Biden speaks about the Special Counsel report in the Diplomatic Reception Room of the White House in Washington, DC, on February 8, 2024 in a surprise last-minute addition to his schedule for the day. On February 8, 2024, Republican Representative Byron Donalds called on Biden to take executive action to secure the border in order for the House to pass aid to Ukraine.

Thursday, in the midst of the ongoing conflict with Russia, Florida Republican Representative Byron Donald drew a red line for President Joe Biden regarding the passage of a Ukraine aid package.
According to The Hill, Donald stated this week, “If the president secured the southern border, which he could do today by executive order, you would have time to figure out how to obtain funds for Ukraine.” “Numerous Capitol Hill members would support it.” However, in the absence of a fortified southern frontier, such an outcome is improbable.
The U.S. Senate approved legislation providing aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan by a vote of 67-32 on Thursday. The vote ensued shortly after Senate Republicans voiced their disapproval of a bipartisan border security measure, which also encompassed assistance for Ukraine, on the grounds of concerns pertaining to provisions concerning the U.S.-Mexico frontier.

The legislation was introduced by Senators James Lankford, Kyrsten Sinema, and Chris Murphy in response to significant public criticism regarding the management of the U.S.-Mexico border by the Biden administration and the ongoing flow of unauthorized immigrants traversing American soil.
Based on data provided by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the total number of migrant encounters along the southwest land borders increased to 302,034 in December, from over 200,000 in the preceding two months.
Nevertheless, in the immediate aftermath of the legislation’s introduction, Republicans from both the House and Senate voiced dissent and demanded additional border security measures.
“The likelihood that this failed border bill will pass the House is zero percent.” In effect, it legitimizes the daily influx of 5,000 unauthorized immigrants traversing the border, amounting to over 1.8 million annually, as previously stated by Texas Senator Ted Cruz on X, formerly Twitter.
Several Republican legislators, alongside criticizing the bipartisan legislation, demanded that Vice President Biden implement executive action to ensure border security.
There have been an additional one million encounters at the southern border since the fiscal year began. This is an all-time low and the earliest that this dreadful threshold has been reached. “The peril and anarchy at the border persist in causing damage to the United States under the administration of Vice President Joe Biden,” House Speaker Mike Johnson stated on X. “He must immediately use his executive authority to take action now.”
Biden recently stated, in response to demands for executive action on the frontier, “I have done everything within my power.”
“Merely grant me power.” Provide the border patrol to me. Make the people yours. The evaluators. “Last month, Biden told reporters, “Give me the individuals who can halt this and make it function properly.”
