Actress Shirley Anne Field passed away at the age of 87


Shirley Anne Field was in movies like “The Entertainer” and “Alfie.” Shirley Anne Field died at the age of 87, her family said in a statement.

In the 1960s, the part she played in The Entertainer with the late Laurence Olivier made the stage and movie star famous.

After that, she was in movies like “Alfie” and “Saturday Night and Sunday Morning.”

“With deep sadness, we share the news that Shirley Anne Field died peacefully on Sunday, December 10, 2023, with her family and friends by her side,” the statement said.

“Shirley Anne will be missed a lot, and people will remember her for her strong will and amazing career that spanned more than 50 years on stage and screen.”

Born on June 27, 1936, in Forest Gate, Newham, Field made her name as a model in the 1950s.

She later became an actress and was in the comedies Loser Takes All (1956) and It’s a Wonderful World (1959).

After starring in a show with the famous actor Olivier, she became more well-known and went on to star in many movies, TV shows, and plays.

Two of his hit movies were “The War Lover” (1962), which starred the late Steve McQueen and Robert Wagner, and “My Beautiful Laundrette,” which starred Daniel Day-Lewis.

But in 1999, Shirley Anne’s younger brother Guy Broomfield was killed in San Francisco by his girlfriend’s son, who was the heir to the DHL courier wealth. This caused even more pain for the family.

Shirley Anne Field often spoke on cruise ships as a guest speaker. A Time for Love, her autobiography, came out in 1991.

A girl named Nicola was born to her and Charlie Crichton-Stuart. In 1993, Shirley Anne Field was asked why she had never married again. She said, “I’ve been in love too many times, and always with the wrong people.”
