If you’re new to Fortnite, then odds are you’re finding the building rather baffling.
If you are just getting started with the Fortnite hype, you’re likely to have come across the building aspect – that and the abundance of skins in the Fortnite Item Shop. This is something that helps to make Fortnite unique to other battle royale titles that are on the market. For those with a new Fortnite account, there’s a chance that you’re struggling to get to grips with the building. There’s no shame in this, as it is tough to get used to.
Sure, you may have a basic grasp so far. But have you noticed enemy players throwing up an entire tower in front of you in a matter of seconds, and want to know how to do it yourself? Building is a massive factor between winning and losing, so here are some tips that you’ll find useful.
Building Ceilings
An underrated skill, for sure. Building a protective ceiling is seldomly used, but given the rule of higher ground having the advantage, techniques like this are pivotal. If you’re a new player, then odds are that you are going to be taking the low ground whilst you’re learning the mechanics and such. If you do find yourself in that situation, then try and limit the shots coming in from above by building a ceiling above you. After all, what’s the use of having all of the skins available in Fortnite Item Shop if your technique isn’t as great.
This can be used in a way in which you would run forward and keep building the ceiling parts to keep the damage coming in from above. This should keep you protected from the player in an advantageous position higher up.
Build a Box
If you are going to move onto bigger structures to build, then start with a floor, a ramp, and of course four walls. Yes, it will look basic at first, but this will provide you with protection from all angles.
The reason why this is something that you should learn early on is not just about how effective it is, but it’s also pretty simple. It doesn’t just protect you either, as you can use the ramp to gain an advantage from an offense point of view as well. The fact that you can build it in a matter of mere seconds is also very useful. As you get used to building this, you can then start to move onto a bigger build to give you an even better chance of survival if you find yourself in a firefight.
Build a Ramp
Starting for the first time? Want one of the best pieces of advice, yet one of the simplest? Start building ramps. These are what you need to be focusing on when first getting to grips with Fortnite Battle Royale.
It allows you to make a quick getaway, gain higher ground vantage points, and generally progress forward efficiently. You don’t need to be building them right into the sky
straight away, which can be deadly if you get way up high to have your ramp shot out from underneath you. But when you’re in the heat of battle, a ramp can provide a fantastic advantage in your favor. Don’t be fooled by its simplicity, as the ramp can come in useful.
Building 90-Degree Walls
Popular terminology in Fortnite encourages the building of a 90-degree wall. You’ve more than likely heard the term of cranking a 90 through memes and such but may not have understood the practice of it. You’ll be blocking incoming fire by building a couple of walls.
The reason why gaining victory is such a challenge in Fortnite is that it doesn’t just test you to plan. You also need to be able to think on your feet in many situations, and you’ll sometimes need very quick solutions to keep you alive. One such tactic is to put these two walls up in front of you to absorb the damage. You might not have the necessary protection behind you, but it can still be a real difference-maker at that very moment.
There you have it! these tips should be good to get you started. Before you start the grind or risk it all by looking for Fortnite accounts for sale or the skins in the Fortnite Item Shop, you should be focusing on getting to grips with the mechanics themselves. You’ll soon see why this is such an addictive part of the game as well. When it works for you and you’re used to building, the sky is the limit as to what you can build. Don’t be afraid to experiment, but also be ready to throw some walls up at very short notice.
