As reported by Reuters,On Saturday, Donald Trump engaged in another personal attack against his former attorney, Michael Cohen, possibly challenging the boundaries of a gag order that prohibits him from publicly commenting on witnesses or their testimony in his forthcoming criminal trial in New York.

The former president penned the following on his Truth Social platform: “Has disgraced attorney and felon Michael Cohen been charged with liar? This judge and these goons prosecute only Trump supporters…”
Cohen is anticipated to be a key witness for the prosecution in the trial, which will be the first of its kind to feature a former American president and is scheduled to commence jury selection on Monday.

Trump is accused by prosecutors of falsifying business records in order to conceal a $130,000 payment made to porn star Stormy Daniels prior to the 2016 election in exchange for her silence regarding an alleged sexual encounter with Trump.

According to Cohen, Trump directed him to remit the payment and subsequently arranged reimbursement.
Trump has denied having sexual relations with Daniels, whose actual name is Stephanie Clifford, and has entered a not-guilty plea.

At the request of the prosecution, trial judge Juan Merchan issued a gag order against Trump in March, prohibiting him from discussing the testimony of witnesses in relation to their involvement in the case.

The order was expanded on April 1 to encompass members of his own family as well as those of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg; however, neither Merchan nor Bragg are specifically named in the expansion.
A request for comment was not met with a prompt response from the district attorney’s office.

The Republican presidential candidate in the upcoming November election, Trump, has asserted that he is the target of political persecution.
During a campaign rally in Schnecksville, Pennsylvania, Trump characterized Bragg as attempting to obstruct him from defeating President Joe Biden and referred to Merchan as “extremely conflicted and corrupt.”

On federal allegations that he violated campaign finance law by providing the payment to Daniels, Cohen entered a guilty plea in 2018. However, he later that year entered a distinct guilty plea to Congress for deceiving them in 2017 regarding a real estate venture in Moscow. He claims he lied in order to safeguard Trump.

Earlier this week, Trump attacked both Daniels and Cohen, another probable prosecution witness, on Truth Social, labeling them “sleaze bags.”
