Overview: GNTM 2021
In this GNTM 2021 season everything will be different – we promise! The fans of the most successful German model casting show have been excited for months, because it was not clear whether the format could even be shot under lookdown conditions. Now Heidi is starting the next round with her girls.
‘Germany’s Next Top Model – by Heidi Klum’ has made a giant leap. 2021 is the year of change for the show. For the first time, the model villa and thus the GNTM headquarters was relocated from Los Angeles to Berlin. Heidi Klum and her extended family moved to the German capital for the duration of the filming. You could often accompany them on their forays through the streets of Berlin via social media. And it was here that daughter Leni Klum also took her first official steps into the fashion world. After the Vogue cover, her appearance during Berlin Fashion Week and the shoot for Hunger Magazin, Leni revealed that she will also appear at GNTM 2021 every now and then.
GNTM candidates 2021
What started in season 15 will of course continue. Too small, too old, too fat, too thin, too few women, too many men are not exclusion criteria for the GNTM Model cast. Diversity, charisma and character, on the other hand, were decisive for the selection of the participants. The first pictures show: the troop has never been so different. On February 4th, the 31 new candidates will present their unique stories for the first time.
You can look forward to: Maria-Sophie (19) from Konstanz. The 1.55 meter bundle of energy is training as a tourist and leisure clerk. In addition to Alex (23) from Cologne, who is 30 cm taller, she naturally stands out.
The 21-year-old Maria from Flensburg is deaf and, like many, dreamed of a career as a model as a child. So far she has worked as a bookbinder. Landei Lena, 21 years old, feels just as comfortable in rubber boots as in high heels. The student from Main-Spessart wants to get started as a model through Heidi.
Soulin, 20 years old from Hamburg, fled the war from Syria nine years ago and has now been in Germany for five years. With her high school diploma fresh in her pocket, she now wants to conquer the world. Romy, 19 years old from Görlitz, loves modeling and her violin. The high school graduate took her instrument to Berlin.
Dasha has curves to fall in love with, the 20-year-old from Solingen loves to stand up for other people. Ashley, 22 years old, is studying law and teaching English and French at the adult education center in Munich. If it doesn’t work out with GNTM, she would like to go to Brussels after completing her studies at the UN.
Mareike, 25 from Halle (Saale) has just finished university and has already had a career in the national basketball team. Because of an injury, she had to give up her sports career.
Heidi Klum about her cast: “It has always been important to me to give as different girls as possible the chance to become ‘Germany’s Next Top Model’. But hopefully by now the viewers know that #GNTM doesn’t have to be blonde and blue-eyed. Diversity is very important to me. “
The GNTM 2021 jury
The jury carousel romps about supermodels, comedians, star photographers and designers. Valentina Sampaio, Ellen von Unwerth, Rankin and Christian Anwander, presenter Rebecca Mir and comedian Otto Waalkes will be at Heidi Klum’s side. With fashion icon Manfred Thierry Mugler as a guest judge, the first episode starts with a high-profile.
The fans will be especially happy about a face. Thomas Hayo, almost a GNTM veteran, comes back in the 16th season, as he already revealed on German breakfast television.

First-hand information is available on the show’s social media channels. On February 4, the candidates’ official # GNTM 2021 Instagram accounts will be activated. So does the race for the audience and most of the followers begin?
What is new, however, is the GNTM TikTok account, where specially produced reels are shared with the young fan base. The #GNTM 2021 website also got a fresh update. In addition to the news about the show and the models, you are provided with exclusive backstage stories; including a virtual look at the model portfolios.
