‘SNL' Cold Open Mocks Donald Trump's Bible Venture: "Sounds Like a Joke. And in Many Ways It Is, But It's Also Real"

On its most recent episode, Saturday Night Live ridiculed Donald Trump’s most recent endeavor, which was promoting the “God Bless the USA Bible.”
The product is priced at $59.99 and is described as being “inspired by the song “God Bless the USA” by country musician Lee Greenwood.” The composition consists of the following: the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence, the Pledge of Allegiance, and the handwritten rendition of “God Bless the USA.”

Trump (portrayed by James Austin Johnson) stated in Saturday’s cold open that it is Easter, “the season in which I draw parallels between myself and Jesus Christ. I have come to do that routinely, and it appears that everyone is fine with it. I intend to continue doing it. And if you find this to be an unattractive appearance, consider how bizarre it would be if I were to begin selling Bibles. “However, I do sell Bibles.”

Trump, while holding a copy of the aforementioned Bible, remarked, “This exquisite Bible is composed entirely of the Bible.”
“This appears to be a jest. “And while it is true in many ways, it is also extremely real,” he continued.
The Bible, according to Johnson (in his capacity as Trump), is “my favorite book.”
“But this is a very special Bible and it could be yours for the high, high price of $60,” he pointed out. “However, this is not for financial gain.” “I am performing this act for the glory of God, to pander, and primarily for financial gain.”

He lamented that “religion and Christianity have vanished entirely from this country,” describing it as “sad.” In addition, we require their return. Without religion, neither laws nor mission journeys would exist. Adult mission excursions are extremely enjoyable. You travel to Mexico, construct a residence, and possibly have a sexual encounter on your final night there. Everything returns to normal in Clearwater, Florida thereafter.”However, returning to the Bible that he is endorsing: “It contains any biblical passage you desire, including the account of Easter, which is predominately about Jesus. Rather less so than the rabbit. I persisted in awaiting the appearance of the rabbit. “He never appeared.”

Trump, representing Johnson, proceeded to draw a parallel between the Holy Trinity and Destiny’s Child, stating that Beyoncé is divine, Kelly Rowland represents Jesus, and “Holy Ghost would likely be the black Michelle Williams, who is extremely significant to a great number of people.” Almost as significant to white individuals as the white Michelle Williams. Additionally, we believe that a fourth Destiny’s Child existed; however, that will be the subject of an investigation in the near future. That is a fine [song], and I particularly enjoy it. “Any day, I’d be delighted if someone would pay mine.”

Johnson’s Trump concluded the remark with the following verse from the Lord’s Prayer: “Our heavenly father.” Daily bread, trespass, holy, beep, beep, bing bing bing bong, bing boom bing bing bong. And kindly succumb to temptation in order to compensate for our vehicles. “Amen.” “In the name of the Easter bunny, the father, and the son.
