AManassas man, Virginia, was told his Mega Million ticket wasn't a winner. But, after checking it again a few weeks later, he discovered he was the winner.
According to the Virginia Lottery's press release, Malcolm Meredith kept his ticket for the lottery drawing on May 20, despite being informed it wasn't a winning ticket.
Meredith saw the ticket several weeks later and realized that he had won some money.
However, it was not until he went to the Virginia Lottery's Northern Virginia Service Center with the ticket that Meredith discovered that he had won $1 million.
The Virginia Lottery states that the Mega Millions drawing takes place twice per week. The $2 ticket can be used to win the jackpot and other cash prizes.
The organization stated that every Mega Millions jackpot increases until the winner is found. Mega Millions jackpots can be won by one person or multiple people.
