There are many of situation, when you might need to increase the PHP memory limit of your WordPress site, and there are even a number of different ways to do so.

As a wordpress developer, you will use different themes. There many premium themes like Betheme, JupiterX, Phlox, etc which needs specific amount of Memory. If PHP Memory less than specified capacity, it wont allow you to import Demo Template. Please have a look at below screen shot showing memory issue JupiterX

By default, WordPress automatically tries to increase PHP memory limit if it is less than 64MB. However, this is not enough.you can easily fix it by increasing the php memory limit in WordPress. The PHP memory limit is different for different servers.

The easiest way is to edit wp-config.php file on your WordPress site. Just paste below code any where inside wp-config.php file-

The following code will server our purpose-

define( 'WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M' );

If you’re still receiving the error after this fix, contact your web host provider or server administrator for their help. 

Increasing Your PHP Memory Limit in .htaccess

You can also increase your PHP memory limit with your .htaccess file. This file is located in your root directory. It’s a “dotfile,” which are typically hidden by default in some FTP clients. If you don’t see yours, click Server in FileZilla, and select Force Showing Hidden Files.
