The main functions of UPSC

Under Article 320 of the Constitution, the functions of the UPSC are as follows:

UPSC conducts the recruitment examinations for the appointment to the services of the Union.

UPSC conducts recruitment of aspirants by selection through interviews.

The appointment of officers in the cadre on promotion / deputation / absorption

· The framing and amendment or change of the recruitment rules for services and posts under the Government

The managing disciplinary cases related to different civil services or officers.

To advising the Government on any matter allotted to the Commission by the President of India.

The examinations which are conducted by UPSC

To understand about the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), everyone must know about the examinations conducted by the UPSC. Following are the list of exams conducted by the Union Public Service Commission:

  • Indian Engineering Services Examination (IESE) – Under this examination of UPSC, officers are admitted to the Indian Engineering Service (IES). An IES officer works in the technical aspects of roads, railways, construction, electricity etc.

Eligibility: To appear in this examination, the candidate must be an engineering graduate.

  • Indian Civil Services Examination (CSE) – Under this examination of UPSC, officers are recruited for the Indian Civil Services such as IAS / IPS / IFS / IRS / IDES / IIS, etc., and there is a different enthusiasm among the youth for this.

Eligibility: For CSE, the candidate should have at least a Bachelor’s degree to appear in the examination.

  • National Defense Academy (NDA) – This exam is conducted two times in a year by the UPSC for those candidates who want to get admission in the National Defense Academy.

Eligibility: To appear in this examination, it is very important for the candidate to pass the intermediate examination and the candidate should be unmarried.

  • Naval Academy Examination
  • Indian Statistical Service Examination (ISS) – Under this examination, Grade IV officers are recruited to the Indian Statistical Services.

Eligibility: To appear in this examination, the candidate should be a graduate.

  • Indian Economic Service Examination (IESE) – Grade IV officers are recruited in the Indian Economic Services under this examination.

Eligibility: To appear in this examination, the candidate should be a graduate.

  • Indian Forest Service Examination (IFSE) – This exam is for recruitment as Indian Forest Service Officers. The IFS officers are come under the Ministry of Environment forest and climate change. The highest post of IFoS for the central government is DG of the forest and the highest post of IFoS for state government is the Principal Chief Conservator of the forest.

Eligibility: To appear in this examination, the candidate should be a graduate.

  • Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist Examination
  • Combined Medical Services Examination – This examination is conducted under the Government of India to recruit medical officers in various services like Indian Ordnance Factories and Indian Railways.

Eligibility: To appear in this examination, the candidate should be a qualified physician for this.

  • Central Armed Police Forces (ACs) Examination – This examination is conducted for the recruitment of Assistant Commandant in the Central Armed Police Forces.

Eligibility: To appear in this examination, the candidate should also have a bachelor’s degree for this.

  • Combined Defense Services Examination (CDS) – This examination is conducted to recruit youths to the IMA / INA / Indian Air Force Academy and Officers’ Training Academy.

Eligibility: To appear in this examination, the candidate must be unmarried, and must have a bachelor’s degree.

  • Special Class Railway Apprentice Examination (SCRA) – This examination is conducted for admission to Indian Railway Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Jamalpur for undergraduate course in Mechanical Engineering.

Eligibility: To appear in this examination, the candidate should be a graduate in the relevant trade.

Eligibility required for UPSC Examination

  • If a student wants to appear in the UPSC examination then he must be a citizen of India.
  • The age of the student should be a minimum of 21 years and less than 32 years.
    However, according to the category, OBC, SC and ST category students get the age relaxation of 5 – 6 years as per the government rules.
  • Students must have concluded from any stream to appear in the UPSC examination.
  • Any student can appear a maximum of 6 times in UPSC exams means the student will get only 6 attempts to appear in the UPSC examination.

The Steps to fill UPSC application form

Step 1: Firstly, the applicants will have to visit the authority website www.upsc.gov.in of UPSC and then click on the link to apply for civil services.

Step 2: After that, the applicants will be required to enter the details such as Name of applicant, Gender, Category, Nationality, etc.

Step 3: After that, the applicant will have to submit it and then the applicant will be redirects on the payment page.

Step 4: Now, the applicants can select to pay online and offline, however, to pay online it includes payment through debit / credit card or net banking, and then click on pay. After that, the applicant will be redirected to second part of the UPSC Form.

Step 5: After getting the receipt of the fee payment, the applicants need to fill in the complete information of the application form, and then enter the choice of Examination Center. After that, enter the qualification and other details.

Step 6: After verification of the application form, the applicants will have to click on submit.

Step 7: After this, the applicant will be required to click on the link provided to upload the photo and signature, and the image is correct and clear and the image should be in JPG, and the image size should be in between 20KB – 300KB.

Step 8: At last the applicants are required to click on the “I Agree”To approve and submit the complete UPSC Form.
