The campaign of Donald Trump is expressing discontent with the debate commission’s “unacceptable” decision to adhere to its predetermined schedule, as opposed to flexibly adjusting its plans to accommodate the former commander-in-chief’s preferences.
Decades have passed since the Commission on Presidential Debates began regulating the presidential debates.

This time around, the first presidential debate is scheduled to take place on September 16 at Texas State University in San Marcos, followed by the vice presidential debate on September 25 at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. The subsequent month, two more presidential debates are planned to take place in Utah and Virginia. The commission unveiled its timetable in late November, approximately one year prior to the 2024 election. The commission has denied the Trump campaign’s requests to advance debates to an earlier date in the year.

The commission informed Fox News Digital on Tuesday, “The CPD’s criteria… will be applied in early September; thereafter, the Commission will extend debate invitations to qualifying candidates.”
“The CPD is moving forward with the broadcast and production arrangements at its four debate sites, as previously declared on November 20, 2023.”

Senior Trump campaign officials Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles have expressed displeasure with the CPD’s plans, citing the commission’s denial of their request to modify the schedule.
The statement read, “The schedule of the Presidential Debate Commission does not commence until millions of Americans have already cast their ballots.”

“This is intolerable, and they are doing the American people a grave disservice by delaying the debates; they deserve to hear from both candidates prior to the start of voting.”
President Trump has declared his willingness to engage in a debate with Joe Biden at any time, in any location, and Biden has just consented to the debate, according to the statement. We remain steadfast in our determination to achieve this objective, regardless of the involvement of the Presidential Debate Commission. We extend an invitation to all American television networks that are interested in hosting a debate. Furthermore, we reiterate our request for Joe Biden’s team to collaborate with us in order to schedule one promptly. It is what the American people are entitled to.”

Allies have been urged by the Republican National Committee (RNC) to advocate for debates between President Joe Biden and Donald Trump.
The president has been ambiguous in recent months regarding whether or not he will debate Mr. Trump, stating that it “depends on the former president’s behavior.”
However, Mr. Biden stated last week in an interview with radio presenter Howard Stern that he would be “ecstatic” to debate his Republican opponent.

Mr. Trump promptly replied on Truth Social, wherein he challenged the president to convene outside his hush money trial and engage in a debate with him on the Manhattan courthouse steps.
“I say, ANYWHERE, ANYTIME, ANYPLACE, an old expression used by fighters,” Mr. Trump wrote. “Everyone knows he doesn’t really mean it, but in case he does, I say THIS.”

After Mr. Biden failed to accept his challenge immediately, Mr. Trump extended an invitation to the White House to engage in a debate with the president.
For over three decades, the commission has served as the presenter and producer of the debates. However, it was opposed by the RNC in a vote two years ago, which stated that the commission had a bias against Republican candidates.
