Biden tries to appeal to union workers by bashing Trump for inheriting his wealth

On Friday, in an effort to woo union members, President Biden criticized former President Trump’s wealth inheritance.
President Trump likened his upbringing to that of Trump while speaking at a conference hosted by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), a major labor organization that has endorsed his reelection campaign, in Washington, D.C.

“While growing up, some individuals learn very different lessons than you and I did,” the president stated. “They discover, as did my adversary, that inheriting wealth is the surest means to become wealthy. “It’s difficult to argue with them, but, eh—”

The renowned Trump initiated his business endeavors with a loan of $1 million from his father, Fred Trump. Over time, he allegedly inherited a minimum of $413 million from his father.
“They discover that taxation is reserved for the working class, not the ultra-wealthy.” They come to understand that informing others of one’s termination is comical. Not in the region from which I originate. “Not where I was raised,” Biden declared atop the podium, increasing his voice.

In the boardroom setting of his popular reality program “The Apprentice,” Trump would dismiss contestants using his signature method.
“I suppose that’s how those from Park Avenue and Mar-a-Lago see the world, but I was raised in Claymont, Delaware, and Scranton, Pennsylvania. “working-class and middle-class communities, just as many of you did,” Biden told the union employees.

The president further stated, “No one handed you anything; you paid your taxes; and hearing your dismissal wasn’t entertainment; it was a family’s worst nightmare.”
Comparing Scranton to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, he delivered additional insults. During his campaign trip there earlier this week, the president asserted that the Republican Party intends to increase taxes on the working-class population.

“Folks, our origins are significant. “Therefore, I view the economy not from the opulence of Mar-a-Lago, but from the perspective of my hometown of Scranton and the kitchen table of my grandfather,” the president explained. “I see it through the lens of ordinary citizens such as yourself, and the fundamental principles that you exemplify—honesty, decency, diligence, and faith. “The matter is significant.”

With union workers in mind, Biden has labored to reestablish the coalition that brought him to the White House in 2020. The transition of union households from blue to red in 2016 contributed to Trump’s triumph in states such as Michigan, which was subsequently won by Biden in 2020.
The president frequently asserts that he is the most pro-union president in history, and he made history when he joined an autoworkers’ picket line last year.
