In four battleground states, majorities of voters are dissatisfied with President Biden’s performance on the job and do not believe they are financially advancing. The most recent Fox News statewide surveys in Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin indicate as much. Participating in the elections from April 11-16 were more than 1,100 registered electors from each state.
According to the surveys, which were released on Thursday, the head-to-head comparison between former President Trump and President Biden is close. While the candidates are deadlocked in two states (Pennsylvania and Wisconsin), Trump leads in two others (Georgia and Michigan), the difference is not statistically significant.
Furthermore, in each of the four state surveys:
- In the two-way election, Trump is meeting or surpassing his 2020 vote totals, whereas Biden is falling short of his figure.
- By at least 10 percentage points, more voters disapprove than approve of Biden’s job performance.
- Biden outperforms Trump in the matchup by a minimum of three percentage points, as ten percent of those who disapprove of his job performance continue to support him.
- Regarding immigration and the economy, Trump enjoys a significant advantage in terms of public confidence; on the other hand, Biden maintains a marginal advantage in terms of election integrity and health care. Regarding abortion, Biden enjoys greater support in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, whereas Trump is more trusted in Georgia.
Biden’s disfavor rating is greater than that of Trump, with the exception of Wisconsin, where 54% hold a negative view of both candidates. - In a hypothetical five-way race, support for third-party candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is below 10% in all four states.
- The Fox News Poll is a collaborative effort between Shaw & Company Research (R) and Beacon Research (D). The battleground questionnaires were administered to registered voters in Georgia (1,128), Michigan (1,126), Pennsylvania (1,141), and Wisconsin (1,198) at random from a statewide voter file from April 11-16, 2024. The participants engaged in live interviews via landlines and cellphones, or responded to the survey online via text message. The margin of sampling error for results derived from the entire sample in each state is ±3 percentage points. Weights are typically assigned to variables such as area, ethnicity, education, and age in order to ensure that the demographics of the respondents accurately reflect those of the registered voter population.
