According to reports, Trump provoked the E. Jean Carroll jury by providing himself as evidence.
The jury was provided with further evidence that former President Donald Trump was not committed to facing the serious legal proceedings involving the sexual assault accusation against columnist E. Jean Carroll in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room during the mid-1990s: he vacated the courtroom just as her attorney delivered her closing remarks.
Tuesday on MSNBC, former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner stated, “They certainly did see Trump for who he truly is.”
It appeared that Trump benefited from his truancy during the initial case; however, his irreverent conduct in court, as evidenced by his overheard remarks of “Carroll’s statements are false” and “She now appears to have regained her memory,” strengthened the prosecution’s case and probably burnt through his wallet.
Judge Lewis Kaplan ruled that the jury’s award of $5 million in compensatory and punitive damages in the civil case involving sexual abuse and defamation was reasonable last summer. Attorneys for Trump attempted to achieve clemency at that time by requesting a reduction of the amount to less than $1 million or a retrial regarding damages.
Kirschner argues that this is not a fluke.
“By not appointing Donald Trump, the jury is shielded from his presence; in exchange, E. Jean Carroll is awarded $5 million.” She will be granted $83.3 million upon his entrance.
He suggests that Trump’s choice to stand up and leave the courtroom happened while Carroll’s counsel, Roberta Kaplan, was in the midst of a sentence.
“Considering the fact that procedural disruption is prohibited in every court and jurisdiction, and they were arguing to the jury that ‘Donald Trump is a liar who apparently believes the rules don’t apply to him!'” What action does he take in this regard? Arises and storms out of court in a furious fit. Engaging in what? “Aliasing the order of business.”
The behavior of those individuals failed to impress a jury consisting of seven males and two women.
“You know, that’s a litigator’s dream, when an opponent behave like that, I would probably say, ‘Ladies and gentlemen, I would love to invite Donald Trump back into the courtroom and slap an exhibit sticker on his head.”
“‘He’s Exhibit 1, proving the point we were arguing to you.”
